SRINAGAR: Tarun Chugh, BJP National General Secretary and In-Charge of Jammu and Kashmir, criticized opposition parties on Friday for their vocal concerns about elections. He emphasized that it is the sole prerogative of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to announce the election schedule for Jammu and Kashmir.
Chugh stated, “The responsibility of announcing elections rests with the ECI, and the BJP is fully prepared for all types of elections in J&K. The Abdullahs, Muftis, and Nehru families should clarify why they failed to update voter lists over the past several decades.”
He continued, “Voter lists have been revised, and objections have been solicited. Without a doubt, the ECI will make the necessary decisions and announce the election schedule in due course. The ECI will reveal the poll schedule in the near future.”
Chugh strongly criticized opposition parties, remarking, “Those who boycotted Panchayat and BDC elections and subsequently seized power through boycott tactics should refrain from offering lectures on conducting elections.”
