Ahmedabad, September 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized his commitment to transforming India into a global economic powerhouse during an event commemorating the completion of 20 years of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. He acknowledged that Vibrant Gujarat, initiated two decades ago, has grown from a small seed into a substantial entity.
The Prime Minister expressed that the original intention behind organizing Vibrant Gujarat was to catalyze the state’s growth and make it a pivotal driver of India’s economic development. Following 2014, the government’s vision expanded to position India as a global growth engine.
Modi stated, “We are standing at such a phase that India will soon emerge as a global economic powerhouse. It is my guarantee to you that in a few years from now, in front of your eyes, India will be among the top three economies of the world.”
He highlighted the remarkable journey of Vibrant Gujarat, which began as a pioneering initiative and later evolved into an institution. Its success paved the way for many other states to host their investment summits, mirroring Gujarat’s progress.
Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, Modi noted that every significant endeavor encounters three stages: initial mockery, subsequent opposition, and eventual acceptance, especially when the concept is ahead of its time. He compared this trajectory to the remarkable success of Vibrant Gujarat, which triumphed despite facing initial skepticism and resistance.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that Vibrant Gujarat achieved its triumph at a time when the central government, under the previous UPA dispensation, demonstrated indifference to the industrial progress of the state.
