Bhaderwah, Sept 26:-Institution Innovation Council of GDC Bhaderwah in collaboration with Forest Department Bhadarwah organized a one day trekking activity from Chattergalla to Thanthara Bhadarwah (12 km span) under the aegies of Principal GDC Bhaderwah Dr Kuldeep Kumar Sharma.
A total of 27 students along with 6 staff members participated in the event. Dr Neeraj Sharma of Bhadarwah Campus University of Jammu elaborated about the important flora and fauna of that area. Chander Shekhar DFO Bhadarwah informed the students about the importance of plants and their conservation.
He talked about the Northern and Southern aspect effect on the diversity and density of plant communities.
Dr Sandeep Kotwal, Asstt Professor Botany and Coordinator Institution Innovation Council informed the participants about the predominance of 6 important gymnosperms of that area viz Quercus semecarpifolia, Picea smithiana, Abies pindrow, Taxus baccata, Cedrus deodara and Pinus wallichiana.
He briefed about the benefit of Lab to Nature and from Nature to lab activities.
He expressed his views about the 17 Sustainable Goals of United Nations and how we can achieve them for the Development of a region and Nation.
Prof Prithvi Raj, Head Department of Commerce thanked all the participants and Forest Department by reciting a poem.
Prof Jaideep Thakur of Department of Zoology, Prof Manzoor Ahmed of Department of EVS and Mr Dilveer Singh of Department of Botany also participated enthusiastically in the event.
A total of 20 forest officials also participated in the trekking activity and provided help, served refreshment and protection to the participants from any possible risk of predator of that track.
