Anantnag Operation Extends into Its Third Day with the Deployment of Drones and Mortar Shells by Security Forces

Srinagar, September 15: In the ongoing operation to eliminate militants, now in its third day in the forested and hilly region of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials have deployed drones to precisely locate the terrorists, according to reports. This move follows an incident on Wednesday in which the terrorists targeted and killed four security personnel.

Officials disclosed that based on drone surveillance, mortar shells have been launched onto the terrain suspected to be harboring the terrorists. The security forces have maintained a stringent cordon around the area.

The casualties suffered on Wednesday included Colonel Manpreet Singh, the commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Army, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat, and a soldier. They lost their lives during an encounter with the militants at Gadole in the Kokernag area of the southern Kashmir district on Wednesday morning.
