Srinagar, September 14 : On Thursday, security forces conducted an aerial retrieval operation to transport the bodies of Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchak from the encounter site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. This operation took place a day after they, along with a deputy superintendent of police, lost their lives in a firefight with terrorists.
Officials confirmed that the remains of Colonel Singh and Major Dhonchak were airlifted from Kokernag to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital located in the Badamibagh Cantonment in Srinagar.
In honor of the fallen officers, a solemn ceremony will be held, with the presence of high-ranking Army, police, and civil administration officials, as they pay their final respects. Following this tribute, the mortal remains of the valiant officers will be transported to their respective hometowns for the last rites.
