Delhi court awards death penalty to three convicts in gangrape-murder of woman, killing her two children

In a significant judgment, a Delhi Court has awarded the death penalty to three individuals for their involvement in a brutal gangrape and murder case. The horrific incident took place in the Khyala police station area, where a woman and her two young children, a 7-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, were subjected to unspeakable acts of violence.

The convicts first attacked the woman, using a screwdriver to inflict fatal injuries before strangling her. Following this gruesome act, they turned their violence toward the two innocent children and, after taking their lives, proceeded to rob the house. This gruesome crime dates back to 2015 when an FIR was filed by the deceased woman’s husband.

Special Fast Track Court Judge Aanchal of Tis Hazari Court pronounced the death sentence for the accused Shahid, Akram, and Rafat Ali, also known as Manzoor Ali. These sentences were issued under Section 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy), while life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 35,000 were imposed on each convict for the charges of gang rape and robbery.

The court’s verdict was based on a substantial chain of evidence, including the accused’s movements leading up to and following the crime. Call records and discoveries made in response to disclosure statements provided strong grounds to believe in a conspiracy among the accused. The court also noted a pattern of phone calls exchanged between the convicts, aligning with the timing of the heinous crime.

The FIR in this case was filed by the husband and father of the victims, who made the gruesome discovery upon returning home. He had left his wife and children in good health but returned to a horrifying scene, with his wife and two young children brutally murdered. The court found that the evidence overwhelmingly pointed to the guilt of the three convicts, who had conspired in the commission of these heinous crimes.

This verdict marks a significant step toward ensuring justice for the victims and holding those responsible for such heinous acts accountable for their crimes.
