G20: Delhi decks up to host world leaders; PM Modi to hold bilateral with Macron, Sheikh Hasina

With just days remaining for the G20 summit, final stage preparations are underway in Delhi ahead of the world leaders visit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Biden will be arriving a day before the event for the bilateral discussions. According to the White House, Biden-Modi bilateral meet will take place on Friday. The two-day G20 summit will begin on Saturday.

Reportedly, Macron is set to hold bilaterals with Modi after the G20 meet on Sunday.

Wide range of topics including efforts to tackle global issues, clean energy transition and combating climate change will be on the table for discussion.

Delhi Police on Sunday held full dress rehearsals escorting carcades from different parts in the national capital. Traffic regulations were imposed on Mahatma Gandhi Marg, IP Flyover, Rajghat Chowk, Shanti Van Chowk, Saleem Garh Bypas, Bhairon Road, Ring Road, Mathura Road, Shershah Road, C-Hexagon, roundabouts at Mansingh Road, Gol Methi, Teen Murti, Yashwant Place, Brig Hoshiyar Singh Marg, and Tolstoy Marg.

The police had advised people to use metro services during the rehearsal. For to and fro commutation from airport, railway station or bus terminals, the police advised people to follow updates on the ‘G-20 Virtual Help Desk’.

Though there will be traffic diversions, city bus service would remain unaffected in most parts.

Meanwhile, G20 is likely to hit services of over 300 intercity and express trains.

According to Northern Railway, services of 207 trains have been terminated, and terminals of 15 trains changed.

Special attention is also being given to the gifts for the visiting leaders and delegates with preference given to handicrafts, textile and painting traditions of the country.

G20 India Special Secretary Muktesh Pardeshi Pardeshi said more than 10,000 delegates are expected to visit Delhi for the Summit.
