In a distressing incident highlighting the hazards of pilgrimage travel, a mini bus overturn near Udhampur resulted in injuries to 13 pilgrims en route to Machail Yatra. The accident occurred along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Modi Ground. The pilgrims, eagerly on their way to Machail Mata shrine in Jammu, encountered this unfortunate mishap.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Chowki Officer Kamal Kishor and a police contingent swiftly reached the accident site to provide immediate assistance. The injured pilgrims were promptly transferred to the Associated Hospital at Government Medical College (GMC) in Udhampur for urgent medical care.
Udhampur’s Superintendent of Police (SSP) confirmed the incident and lauded the rapid response of the police team in ensuring quick hospitalization of the injured individuals. Among those injured, individuals from Jammu, Samba, and nearby areas were identified.
Tragically, one woman suffered severe injuries leading to the amputation of her hand due to the impact of the accident. She has been referred to GMC&H Jammu for specialized treatment, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
This accident emphasizes the importance of safe travel practices, especially during pilgrimage seasons when roads can be congested. The prompt action of authorities and rescue teams played a pivotal role in minimizing the accident’s impact and ensuring timely medical support for the injured. As the injured pilgrims commence their recovery, the community rallies for their swift healing and restoration.
