Jammu and Kashmir‘s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, announced a remarkable surge in tourism with a record-breaking 1.27 Crore tourist arrivals in the region so far this year. Speaking at Charar-e-Shareef in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, LG Sinha praised the revered saint Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA), highlighting his contribution to Sufism.
Commending the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir, LG Sinha emphasized the importance of peace for fostering development. He recalled the times when uncertainty affected the lives of shikara owners, hotel owners, and auto-rickshaw drivers, and how the region has emerged from that phase. Today, Jammu and Kashmir witness a thriving business environment, with schools and colleges functioning normally.
LG Sinha expressed his optimism about the record-breaking tourism figures by the end of the year, given the current influx of tourists. He acknowledged the prime responsibility of the administration to provide quality infrastructure and facilities for tourists. The government is committed to setting up tourist infrastructure throughout the Union Territory to enhance the experience for visitors and boost the local economy.
Ensuring access to quality healthcare, LG Sinha announced the establishment of a full-fledged Centre of Kashmir University in Budgam district. Additionally, the district hospital in Budgam will be equipped to offer all major facilities to the people.
Addressing the issue of youth unemployment, LG Sinha proudly stated that 30,000 jobs have been provided to the youth through a transparent recruitment process. He assured that the recruitment process will resume in September, providing further opportunities for the youth.
LG Manoj Sinha emphasized transparency and avoided making hollow promises, ensuring that the commitments made are fulfilled for the betterment of the region and its people.
The surge in tourism and the overall positive developments in Jammu and Kashmir signal a promising future for the region. As the government continues to focus on infrastructure, employment, and peaceful coexistence, J&K is likely to witness even greater progress and prosperity.
