Srinagar, July 14: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against 19 accused persons in the court of Passenger Tax Srinagar. The chargesheet relates to their involvement in the creation of fake and forged appointment orders within the police department.
According to a statement, the EOW presented a charge report in case FIR No. 48 of 2015 before the Court of Passenger Tax Srinagar. The accused individuals are facing charges under sections 420, 468, 120-B, and 201 RPC (Ranbir Penal Code).
The case originated from a complaint received by the Crime Branch Kashmir, alleging that certain individuals had obtained appointments in the J&K Police (District Srinagar) based on fraudulent appointment orders. The case was subsequently registered in 2015 at the Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir, now known as the Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar, and an investigation was launched.
During the investigation, it was established that the appointment orders were issued in blatant violation of established rules and norms, involving the manipulation of records. The actions of the accused individuals have been classified as cheating, fraud, and forgery, all punishable offenses under sections 420, 468, 120-B, and 201 RPC.
Following a thorough investigation, the case against the 19 accused persons was deemed proven, leading to the production of the chargesheet before the Court for judicial determination, as stated in the released statement.
