NIA Conducts Raids at Five Locations in South Kashmir in Connection with Terror Conspiracy Case

Srinagar, July 11: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at five different locations in South Kashmir on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy case. This comes after the NIA had previously conducted searches in May at 13 locations in Budgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The case, registered by the NIA last year, involves proscribed terrorist organizations planning violent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir using sticky bombs, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and small arms. The agency has stated that these plans were part of a larger conspiracy by the terrorist outfits, aiming to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the region by collaborating with local youth and overground workers.

Earlier on June 26, the NIA had conducted searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with another terror-related case. The NIA, being a specialized law enforcement agency, is empowered to investigate terrorism-related offenses across states without requiring specific consent from the respective states, as authorized by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
