JAMMU, July 8: The Directorate of Tourism Jammu, under the guidance of Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary to the Government, Tourism Department J&K, commenced a special Bus Service called “Jammu Darshan” to cater to the needs of Yatris staying at the Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
The primary objective of this initiative is to facilitate the Yatris at the Jammu base camp while promoting the captivating tourist destinations in the Jammu region to both incoming Yatris and tourists.
The Bus Service was inaugurated by Vivekanand Rai, Director of Tourism Jammu, and Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director of Tourism Jammu, at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. The event witnessed the presence of officials from JKRTC, District Administration Jammu, and the Tourism Department.
Four buses from JKRTC were designated to transport Yatris from Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar Jammu to prominent tourist attractions in Jammu city, including Bahu Fort, Bawe wali Mata Mandir, Jammu Gandola, Tirupati Balaji Temple Majeen, and Amar Mahal Museum. Additionally, the Yatris were taken to Suchetgarh to witness the Border Retreat Ceremony and other popular locations within the Jammu District.
Yatris from Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra enjoyed the day-long trip and commended the Tourism Department for promoting the potential destinations in the Jammu region, providing them an excellent opportunity to explore these places.
During the event, Director of Tourism Jammu, Vivekanand Rai, informed the media that the bus service would operate regularly, particularly during the suspension of the yatra, enabling Yatris to enjoy the beauty of Jammu city and its surroundings during day trips.
Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director of Tourism Jammu, added that the bus service would contribute to the promotion of local destinations like Akhnoor, Jhiri, Suchetgarh, Purmandal, Mansar, Surinsar, and Jammu city.
The bus service will continue throughout the Yatra period and is a collaborative effort between the Directorate of Tourism Jammu, JKRTC, and District Administration Jammu.
Tourists can avail the Bus Service on circuits including Jammu-Akhnoor-Jhiri, Amar Mahal Museum-Bahu Fort-Jammu Gandola-Tirupati Balaji Temple Majeen-Aquaplex Crown Musical Fountain, Jammu-Surinsar-Mansar-Manwal Temples, and Jammu-Purmandal-Utterbehni.
Notable attendees at the event included Ambika Bali, Assistant Director of Tourism Jammu, Sultan Mirza, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Security), officials from the Directorate of Tourism Jammu, and members of the civil administration.
