New Delhi, Jul 5: India recorded 56 new COVID-19 infections in a single day, bringing the total count of active cases to 1,453, as per the latest data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
As of 8 am, the death toll due to the disease reached 5,31,910, with two fatalities reported—one in Maharashtra and another reconciled by Kerala.
The cumulative tally of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,94,407).
The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.81 percent, according to the health ministry’s website. The number of recovered individuals has surged to 4,44,61,044, while the case fatality rate is recorded at 1.18 percent.
The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has administered 220.66 crore vaccine doses in the country so far, as per the ministry’s website.
