Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken swift action following the tragic bus accident on the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway in Buldhana. Expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured, Shinde announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for each of the deceased. Furthermore, he assured free medical treatment for the injured.
In a statement released by the CM’s office, it was mentioned that Chief Minister Shinde was deeply distressed by the incident and has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, as per the police officials.
The accident, which occurred at approximately 1:30 am on Saturday, resulted in the loss of 26 lives, including three children. The surviving driver reported that the accident happened after a tire burst, causing a fire in the bus. Subsequently, the diesel tank also caught fire.
Buldhana SP Sunil Kadasane informed the media that the bus was en route from Nagpur to Pune when the tragic incident took place. Among the deceased, three were children, while the rest were adults. The police confirmed that 33 people were on board the bus at the time of the accident.
Chief Minister Shinde has not only provided financial aid to the affected families but also emphasized the need for immediate medical assistance for the injured, which will be provided at the government’s expense.
