Srinagar, June 27: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha presided over a high-level meeting with senior officials from the Police and Civil Administrations to assess traffic management and develop a comprehensive mobility plan for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
During the meeting, the Lt Governor emphasized the need for zone-wise traffic planning on National Highway-44 in close coordination with relevant departments, District Administrations, SSPs, and Traffic Police to ensure seamless traffic flow, efficient parking, and smooth pedestrian operations.
To streamline the movement of convoys, livestock, vehicles transporting essential items, and horticulture produce, designated time slots will be notified. The officials were directed by the Lt Governor to strictly enforce Traffic Advisories, Schedules, and cutoff timings.
In order to enhance responsiveness and address any unforeseen breakdowns, the Lt Governor urged the Traffic Police, NHAI, BRO, and other agencies to deploy additional personnel and resources. He also instructed the Traffic Police officials to effectively utilize Integrated Command and Control Centers for managing traffic, transit, and travel demands.
The Divisional Commissioners and ADGPs were assigned the task of overseeing traffic management in their respective divisions.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the optimal utilization of Mughal Road, alternate routes, public utilities along the Mughal Road, as well as traffic management in Pahalgam and Sonamarg.
IGP Bhim Sen Tuti presented a comprehensive briefing on the action plan for the Yatra.
