The Doctors Association of Jammu (DAJ) applauds the implementation of the Rotational Headship system in the Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) and GMC Dental hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Balwinder Singh, President of DAJ, expresses his satisfaction with this decision, noting that many departments have 2-3 qualified professors for the position, but only one is selected. This often leads to discontent among the other professors and hampers the smooth functioning of the department in various ways.
Dr. Manjit Singh, General Secretary of DAJ, welcomes the decision and emphasizes that it will break the monopoly of a single professor, allowing for a broader range of talented individuals to contribute to the development of the departments. Dr. Amit, Secretary of DAJ, believes that rotation is an excellent provision as professors with diverse backgrounds, such as those from prestigious institutions like PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS, or other specialized hospitals, can bring their expertise to enhance patient care and improve healthcare facilities.
Dr. Mukhtyar, Secretary of DAJ, appreciates this step and also urges the government to implement a similar policy for rotating health consultants in GMCs and GDCs in accordance with established norms.
