New Delhi, June 19 : Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra announced that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Egypt on June 24 and 25, he will visit the historic Al-Hakim mosque and pay homage to the Indian soldiers who fought for Egypt during World War I. Kwatra highlighted the significance of this being the first official bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt since 1997. He also mentioned the intensified ministerial-level exchanges between the two countries in recent months, indicating the strengthening of their relationship. The Prime Minister’s schedule includes meetings with the India unit and interactions with the Indian community in Egypt, along with engagements with prominent personalities. The visit will further include discussions and the signing of MoUs and agreements with the President of Egypt, fostering trade and economic engagement between the two nations. This reciprocal visit comes within six months of Egypt President Sisi’s visit to India, and it is expected to enhance bilateral ties and open new avenues for cooperation.
