Home Minister Amit Shah to Visit Cyclone-Affected Kutch; 23 Injured, 24 Animals Dead, 800 Trees Uprooted

New Delhi, June 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Gujarat’s Kutch district on Saturday to evaluate the situation in areas affected by Cyclone ‘Biparjoy.’ The cyclone, which means “disaster” in Bengali, made landfall on Thursday near Jakhau Port in Kutch. During his visit, Shah will conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas and meet with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior officials. He will also visit shelter homes to interact with the affected people. Reports indicate that 23 individuals have been injured, 24 animals have died, and approximately 800 trees have been uprooted due to the cyclone’s impact. The cyclone has since weakened into a ‘deep depression’ and is expected to further weaken into a ‘depression’ within the next 12 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department. The NDRF teams have been actively involved in evacuation and restoration efforts, with no reported loss of lives. The Gujarat Chief Minister has ordered district collectors to assess the damage in their respective areas. The visit by Amit Shah aims to assess the damage caused by the cyclone and coordinate relief efforts for the affected regions.
