Investigation Reveals Attachment of 124 Properties Linked to Individuals Involved in Terror Funding in Jammu and Kashmir

J&K , June 08 : In a significant move aimed at demonstrating zero tolerance towards anti-state activities, the SIA, in collaboration with the executive wing of the J&K Police, has intensified its efforts to combat terror funding. As part of this initiative, 124 properties, including lands and buildings at 86 different locations in J&K, have been seized.

These properties have been identified during investigations into terrorism-related cases and are believed to be either proceeds of terrorism or utilized in activities that promote terrorism and secessionism.

Utilizing the provisions outlined in sections 8 and 25 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), the SIA and the executive wing of the police, under the authority of competent bodies designated under UAPA, have initiated legal proceedings to forfeit these tainted properties. The process will be carried out through courts possessing the relevant legal and territorial jurisdiction.

Notably, a significant majority of the attached properties, approximately 77, belong to the banned organization Jamat-e-Islami, which has been designated under Section 8 of UAPA in Case FIR number 17/2019 U/S 10, 11, and 13 UA (P) Act by the Batamalo Police Station, currently being investigated by the SIA.

This resolute action serves as a testament to the unwavering determination to combat terrorism and dismantle the support systems associated with it, in adherence to international treaties and conventions against terrorism.
