Jammu and Kashmir Anticipates Dry Weather with Evening Showers

Srinagar, June 7: According to a meteorological department official, Jammu and Kashmir are expected to experience mainly dry weather on Wednesday, with a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms in scattered areas towards the evening.

The official stated that from June 8-12, predominantly dry weather conditions are anticipated, although there is a possibility of brief showers and thunderstorms in the evening, albeit with a low chance of occurrence (10-20%).

Regarding temperatures, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 12.4°C, slightly higher than the previous night’s 11.2°C, but still 1.0°C below the normal range for the summer capital.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, registered a minimum of 11.2°C, compared to the previous night’s 9.2°C, indicating a deviation of 0.8°C below the normal temperature.

In Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.0°C, just slightly below the previous night’s 5.9°C, resulting in a deviation of 1.0°C below the normal range.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 11.2°C, higher than the previous night’s 9.2°C, but still 0.5°C below the normal temperature for the north Kashmir region.

The officials reported that Kokernag recorded a minimum of 8.4°C, the same as the previous night, but with a deviation of 3.4°C below the normal range for the area.

Gulmarg, the renowned skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, witnessed a minimum temperature of 6.0°C, compared to the previous night’s 5.0°C, indicating a deviation of 2.1°C below the normal range.

In Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.0°C, higher than the previous night’s 21.4°C, but still 2.7°C below the normal range.

Other areas in the region also experienced variations from the normal range, with Banihal recording a minimum of 12.2°C, Batote at 13.0°C, Katra at 19.0°C, and Bhaderwah at 10.4°C.

In Ladakh, Leh registered a minimum temperature of 2.4°C, while Kargil recorded 10.4°C.
