Continuing its special drive against timber smugglers Doda Police has seized huge quantity of illicit timber in Forest area of Marmat Doda and has booked timber smugglers.
Acting on specific information received through reliable sources, a police team of Police Post Goha led by PSI Ankush Sharma IC PP Goha has seized illegally extracted timber in Forest Compartment No. 34 of Forest Range Marmat.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom said that the illicit timber was extracted after felling green standing trees illegally in the forest area by timber smugglers namely Hidayatullah son of Mohd Ramzan resident of Behota Marmat who was arrested by police team on the spot. His another associate namely Tanveer Ahmed son of Farooq Ahmed resident of Behota Marmat is absconding whose search is going on.
” In this connection, case FIR No. 114/2023 under relevant section of law has been registered at PS Doda and the investigation of the case has been started,” he added.
Doda Police has appealed the general public to provide inputs if any damage of green gold is noticed in their area. Doda Police has launched special drive at Police Station level against the timber smugglers in Dessa , Marmat, Thathri , Gandoh , Bhaderwah , Chiralla , Gundna and Bharath area to save the green gold.
