Country’s Active COVID-19 Cases Drop to 7,623 – Promising Decline in Infections

New Delhi, May 22 : According to updated data from the Union health ministry on Monday, India recorded a decline in active COVID-19 cases, which now stand at 7,623. The country reported 473 new coronavirus infections. The death toll has reached 5,31,839, with seven deaths reported, including one fatality reconciled by Kerala. The total COVID-19 case tally stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,86,934).

The active cases currently account for 0.02 percent of the total infections, reflecting a positive trend. The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.80 percent, with 4,44,47,472 individuals having successfully recuperated from the disease. The case fatality rate remains at 1.18 percent.

In terms of vaccinations, the ministry’s website reports that the country has administered a staggering 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far, as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.
