New Delhi, May 15 : According to the latest update from the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 801 new coronavirus infections, with active cases decreasing to 14,493 from the previous count of 15,515. The death toll has risen to 5,31,778, including eight deaths, with four cases reconciled by Kerala, as reported in the data updated at 8 am.
The cumulative COVID-19 case tally in the country stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,81,475). Active cases now account for only 0.03 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is an impressive 98.78 percent, as stated by the ministry. The number of individuals who have successfully recovered from the disease has surged to 4,44,35,204, and the case fatality rate currently stands at 1.18 percent.
The ministry’s website also reports that a total of 220.66 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered across the country so far as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.
