Provincial President VK Dogra, National President Youth Wing Batwal Biradari Koushal Taghotra, Chairman Jagrati Mahila Yog Kender Veena Bakshi, Sanjeev Gupta, Bimla Devi Sarika Dogra besides a large number of members were present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dogra said that Buddha Purnima is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha, a spiritual teacher on whose teachings Buddhism was founded.
He added that Gautam Buddha left his kingdom to seek spiritual enlightenment, and in the process founded Buddhism in India in the 6th-5th centuries.
Lord Budhha was an extraordinary human, a seeker who attained enlightenment through meditation and intelligence, and then set out to preach his learnings to the people, he said.
A philosopher, religious leader, spiritual guide, and enlightened being, Lord Buddha is known for preaching Dharma (duty), non-violence, peace, and kindness, he added. At the age of 30, he gave up his worldly belongings and suffered hardships searching for the truth, Dogra said.
