Train guard from Agra to Delhi manages Vande Bharat returns as a passenger without duty

New Delhi, May 5 : Railway divisions Delhi and Agra are at odds over the deployment of crew for the Vande Bharat Express train, which runs from Nizamuddin in Delhi to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. The issue arises as both divisions deploy their guards to supervise the train. The Agra division guard travels daily from Agra to Nizamuddin to do his job but returns as a passenger with the same train and is not allowed to enter the guard’s cabin. The train, which covers 710 kilometers over four railway divisions in three zones, is causing tension between the two divisions, with the Delhi division allowing the Agra division’s driver to run the train but not the guard. The Northern Railways and North Central Railway associations are calling for the Railway Board to intervene and resolve the matter, citing clear norms and the need for a level playing field for all guards and drivers.
