Farooq criticizes Centre for not hosting G20 meeting in Jammu and condemns settlement of non-locals

Jammu, May 1 : Farooq Abdullah, the National Conference (NC) president, has criticized the Indian government for not hosting the G20 meeting in Jammu, despite it being held in Ladakh and Kashmir. He accused BJP leaders of taking Jammu for granted and ignoring the issue. He also opposed the settlement of non-locals in Jammu and claimed that it threatened the Dogra identity, which he said was disappearing. He referred to a recent public notice by the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board seeking applications from people who have migrated to Jammu, claiming that it showed a demographic change was being brought about. Abdullah also spoke about the recent terrorist attack in Poonch district that left five soldiers dead, stating that terrorism was still alive in Jammu and Kashmir despite the BJP’s claims. He expressed regret over the loss of lives and called for consideration of the plight of casual and need-based workers seeking regularisation on the occasion of Labour Day.
