India’s radio network gets a boost as PM Modi launches 91 FM transmitters in 18 states and 2 UTs

New Delhi, Apr 28 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 91 FM transmitters across 18 states and 2 union territories in India on Wednesday. The move is aimed at improving radio connectivity and expanding the reach of radio broadcasting in the country.

The new transmitters, which were installed under the 12th plan of Prasar Bharati, are expected to provide better quality signals and enhance the coverage of All India Radio (AIR) and FM radio stations.

The inauguration ceremony was held via video conferencing and attended by senior officials from Prasar Bharati and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In his address, PM Modi highlighted the role of radio as a medium of communication in connecting people across the country, especially in rural and remote areas. He also emphasized the importance of promoting local culture and language through radio programs.

The launch of these transmitters is expected to create new job opportunities in the broadcasting sector and boost the economy in the states and union territories where they have been installed.
