Prime Minister to inaugurate 91 FM radio transmitters across 84 districts

New Delhi, Apr 27 : On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 91 FM transmitters across 18 states and two union territories to enhance FM radio connectivity in border regions and aspirational districts, according to an official statement. The expansion, which includes the installation of new 100 W FM transmitters in 84 districts, will bring radio services to an additional two crore people who did not have access to the medium before, covering about 35,000 sq km area. The move comes just ahead of the 100th episode of the Prime Minister’s monthly radio programme, Mann ki Baat, which he started to reach out to the masses. The new transmitters have been installed with a special focus on enhancing coverage in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Ladakh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
