NSS unit of Govt. College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with Fire & Emergency Services Department ,UT of J&K organized a demonstration-cum-awareness programme on Fire Safety measures under the patronage of Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE. Students,Teachers and non teaching staff of the college participated in the program. In the training emphasis was given on fire prevention and fire fighting and the use of the fire extinguishers. Prof. Aekta Gupta said the goal of this Fire Safety Program was to mitigate the risk of fire that has the potential to result in property damage and personal injury. This is achieved through- Compliance with applicable fire safety codes, standards, and regulations, Providing fire safety education and training, Performing assessments of compliance and program effectiveness, Identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities.
An experienced and a proficient team of J&K Fire and Emergency Services were welcomed by the students and staff of the college. The accomplished experts of J&K Fire and Emergency Services, demonstrated a fire prevention plan to staff and students and how to acquit oneself during the fire emergencies.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kiran Ji Raina said that fire destroys property, cause injuries and takes lives. One of the key strategies to maintain a safe workplace and prevent fires is the fire safety training. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO thanked the skilled team of J&K Fire and Emergency Services on behalf of GCOE, Jammu for imparting the knowledge about the same to staff and students.
Mock Drill on fire emergency was also performed in the college premises in order to create awareness among the students and staff. The programme was attended by the students and faculty members-Prof. Anju Bala, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Neeraj Verma and Prof. Seema Kumari. Dr. Pradeep Bali ,Mr.Vikrma Singh Jamwal and non-teaching staff of the college also attended the program.
