Two J&K cops suspended for alleged bribery in Ramban

JAMMU, Apr 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have suspended two officers, including a senior official, for allegedly accepting bribes in the Ramban district. As per reports, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a raid and caught the officers red-handed accepting the bribe.

The two officers have been identified as Inspector Abdul Rashid and Constable Farooq Ahmed. Inspector Abdul Rashid, who was posted as the Station House Officer (SHO) of the police station in Gool, has been suspended from service along with Constable Farooq Ahmed.

According to the sources, the Anti-Corruption Bureau had received a complaint about the two officers demanding a bribe from a local resident in Ramban. The ACB laid a trap and caught the officers while they were accepting the bribe.

An official statement from the police department stated that “In view of the above, both the officers have been placed under suspension and attached with the District Police Lines Ramban.”
