Dy Director Tourism Jammu and Brigadier Joe Subey inaugurated the Festival

Ramban: To explore the hidden beauty of Mahu Valley of Sub Division Banihal in District Ramban and to bring it on the international map of tourism after announcing it as Tourism village, Directorate of Tourism Department Jammu in collaboration with JKTDC, Army’s 23 Rashtriya Rifles and District Administration organizing 4 days Mahu Valley winter Carnival and Cultural Festival in mesmerizing meadow of Mahu area of Ramban.

The Carnival was inaugurated by Dy Director Tourism Jammu Abdul Jabbar along with Sector Commander Brigadier Joe Subey in presence of SDM Banihal Zaheer Abbas and SDPO Banihal Nisar Khoja.
The festival was graced by Senior Military and Civil dignitaries who complimented the organisers of the event and expressed gratitude on collaborative efforts of Indian Army and Civil Administration. They further stated that such events beside promoting tourism and local culture bring self pride to the village and its inhabitants.
The grand event was conceptualised jointly after the success of Winter Carnival in Mahu organised last year with an aim to promote off beat tourist destinations in Jammu division.
Parts of Jammu division are also blessed with pristine natural beauty which are yet to be explored.
The carnival was thronged by tourists from length and breadth of the country, ranging from Bengaluru to Chandigarh.
The carnival provided an opportunity for local entrepreneurs who are entering into the tourism and hospitality industry.
Festival comprised of wide variety of entertainment programmes attracting interest of all sections of society.

Mori, close to Mahu, was offered as an adventure destination with home stays serving flavour of local cuisines, cultural performances of local artists, wide range of adventure activities like, trekking and night camping in natural environs of coniferous forests.
Sprawled in lush green meadows of Nawan, Burjdalau & Trajebal, the Fest was witnessed by nearly 3000 locals and tourists.
Later, the Chief Guests felicitated winners of the competitions and artists of cultural performances.
